Mr. Vendrami is a Ph. D student at University of Bielefeld and Marie Curie Initial Training Network fellow. His research focuses on the exploitation of genetic markers to develop population genetics and population genomics.  At IOS7, he gave a presentation entitled gInvestigation of the genetic structure of the Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas) in Europe using a high density SNP arrayh. It is well known that Pacific oyster is brought to France and Netherlands from Japan via Canadian west coast. Then, pacific oysters have been expanded their distribution throughout Europe, his study is how widely spread to analyze with genetic perspectives. His ambitious efforts were highly appreciated by the Award selection committee.
